Frozen Turkeys Cause Mess in Durant

7-29-04 - A tractor-trailer accident in Durant left authorities with a tough problem – removing 79,000 pounds of frozen turkey parts before they could clear the wreck.

It began Thursday morning around 2am when the driver of the big rig fell asleep and jack-knifed the truck on US 75/69 in north Durant.  The truck skidded to a stop on its side in the median.

But before a wrecker crew could up-right the trailer, they had to remove most of its frozen turkey load.

The trucker and his wife, who was asleep in the cab, are ok.
