ARDMORE, OK - An accident on I-35 in Ardmore has kept traffic at a snail's pace for much of the afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation say southbound Interstate 35 has been down to one lane since an accident around mile marker 34 left a semi on fire around 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

The interstate down to one lane has backed up traffic for miles. ODOT says a construction zone four miles south of the accident is only making things worse.

They're asking drivers to avoid I-35 this afternoon if at all possible.
