08-02-04 – An Ardmore man died Saturday night, after drowning in Lake Murray. Willie Curtis Cross was found by rescue workers at 1:15am Sunday, just five feet from the shore.

According to Lake Patrol, Cross’ wife dropped him off at a fishing area near the Lakeside Grocery in Love County at around 6:30pm Saturday. When she returned four and a half hours later to pick him up, she found her husband’s fishing gear, but no sign of her husband.

Lake Patrol began searching for the man Saturday night and found his body in ten feet of water early Sunday. Investigators say they do not believe foul play was involved.
