Bush, Kerry Campaign in Same Town

08-04-04 - WACO, Texas (AP) - President Bush heads to Iowa Wednesday for dueling campaign events with John Kerry. The president is flying into Davenport, Iowa, for a rally at a
park on the Mississippi River at the same time as his Democratic foe is holding a town meeting on the economy a few blocks away.

The two campaigns deny trying to crash each others' parties. And they say it probably won't be the last time they're crossing paths.

Iowa is a hard-fought battleground this year with polls showing a neck-and-neck race similar to 2000, when Bush lost to Al Gore by just four-thousand votes.

After his Iowa appearance, Bush is heading to Minnesota for a rally in Mankato and a conservation event at a nearby farm. He heads out from Washington Thursday to hit three more states before the weekend.
