Sherman, TX--Wilson N. Jones Medical Center is changing its name to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ. It's part of an acquisition by Texas Health Resources.

Texas Health Resources , the largest health care system in North Texas in terms of patients served announced around 6:00 this morning about a joint venture to acquire Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

We're told this move will allow the hospital to expand current services and provide more for patients in the texoma area with $25 million in capital investments.

“This partnership will position WNJ to enhance and expand the services that we currently provide,” states Pat Flynn, WNJ president & CEO. “WNJ will also continue to stay current with our technology demands for our community so the hospital continues to attract top-quality physicians and hospital staff.”

Given the track record of CEOs at WNJ, I'm amazed this dog farm stays open at all. Arrogant ER docs, nurses that don't care, dirty hallways- and people want to come HERE??? THR can only improve things, since there,s nowhere to go but up.

To ER Paramedic...did you happen to check out the THR web-site? It states clearly that WNJ is now a "for profit" hospital since the acquisition by THR and legacy.

THR is a not for profit hospital system. But that does not mean you dont have to pay your bill. Try going to walmart and getting your groceries and telling the cashier that you will pay when you can, I bet you dont get your food!! you should have to pay your bill. services can not be turned down in an EMERGENCY. The wait comes form people that dont have money to pay a primary care doctor use the ER for non emergencies like a headache or a sore throat. Use the system the way it should be used and not because you think it is a free service that you are entitled to. Just because you dont feel good does not mean that you should go to the ER It is for EMERGENCIES!!!!

I think this area needs to give WNJ a chance to prove themselves. This is a great thing that has happened to the hospital. They will get better and better as time goes along. Even the employees are getting a good deal with better benefits. Happy and respected employees make better caregivers. I'll take WNJ over TMC anytime, especially now that they are part of Presbyterian now.

Wouldn't you just love to know if all these postings come from TMC related folks? hahaha Seriously though, competition within our county to provide these services will simply drive up the quality so unless you are a profit RECEIVER from one of these BUSINESSES this is a GOOD THING. Consumers having a choice always makes the service provider sharper and better. Having the back up of such a large, for-profit resource like this with all the support just down in the metroplex -- this is a GREAT thing for teh community!

I believe it is a great start to a new beginning. No one likes changes however in this case it is imperative that the local hospital be prepared for whatever comes its way. Texas Health is a great way to improve the improvements we have been waiting for! Before you critize, let the changes start happening and then see if you are really that unhapppy. Would you rather everyone at WNJ loose their jobs and add one more empty building to the Sherman area?

Tom - just 'cause it's got Presbyterian in the name doesn't mean its anywhere near as good...and believe me when I say, it's nowhere near as good.

Everyone needs to calm down and ask themselves: WW-WNJ-D?

I was going to Arlington Hospital before Texas Health Resources took over. It was hard to find a parking spot. When THR took over I got front row parking because everyone quit going there. If you cut your leg off, you better have copay with you or they will turn you away. This is a terrible thing for your community.
