Local Marine laid to rest

DENISON -- A local Marine who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Fairfax, Virginia, last week was laid to rest in Denison on Monday. Family and friends held funeral services for Lance Corporal Alex C. Morales, 20.

Morales was born in Sherman and graduated from Denison High School in 2005.

He was buried in Cedarlawn Cemetery.

According to The Washington Post, Morales was riding his motorcycle in the Mason Neck area of Fairfax at a high speed when he slammed into the passenger side of a car attempting to turn left. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene.
