Another Oklahoma soldier made the ultimate sacrifice for his country in Afghanistan over the weekend. Sergeant First Class Jeffrey Kettle died on Sunday from an IED explosion close to the Pakistani border.

Kettle was believed to be from Madill, but we spoke with his uncle in McAlester who told us he had married a woman from Madill but had never actually lived there.

He does have ties to Oklahoma, but his uncle said he calls North Carolina home.

Funeral arrangements are still pending.

I knew Jeffery. He was a very diligent soldier. His father-in-law lives in Madill. His name is Randy Green. They will be traveling to his services this next week. Jeff spent time with my family during the Christmas Holidays on ocassion after I returned from Desert Storm. He left behind a wife and two children. Jeff served his country and family with pride. It is a shame to have lost him. I pray every morning for the soldiers and their families. Also, don't forget to pray for our leaders here and around the world.
