Storms Knock Out Power in OK, TX

8-12-04 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Power is still out Thursday morning for about 3,000 Oklahoma Gas and Electric customers in central Oklahoma.

Strong storms early Wednesday knocked out power and dumped heavy rain on the area. OG&E says nearly 2,300 customers in the Guthrie area are still in the dark and more than 300 in north Oklahoma City are also without electricity.

Other cities still with power outages include Edmond, Norman, Midwest City and Moore.

The storms brought heavy rain, large hail and winds of up to 90 miles per hour and contributed to at least two deaths in traffic accidents.

Storms caused power outages in Grayson County as well. Sherman, Denison, and Pottsboro customers lost power Wednesday morning. Crews were able to repair the downed power lines and power was restored.
