Accident Triggers Search for Missing Pet

8-16-04 - One week after two people were killed in an accident along US 75/69 north of Denison, family members of one of the victims are hoping to find the one survivor from the accident. They’ve been searching for days for Buckshot, a blue heeler mix that was inside the semi-truck when it crashed into an overpass just north of the Red River.

The dog belonged to Shawn Ray Wright of San Angelo. Wright and his 18-year-old girlfriend were northbound Tuesday morning when Shawn fell asleep at the wheel. Rescuers at the scene noticed the dog nearby and he’s been spotted since in the area.

Shawn’s family drove 400 miles late last week after the funeral, returning to the area hoping to find Buckshot. They say he’s the last link they have to their son. They’ve put up flyers and combed the area, but so far, no sign of the 5-year-old dog.

If you can help their search, or have seen the dog, contact the Colbert EMS at 580-296-2000. A $200 reward is being offered.
