8-17-04 - Folks who run red lights in and around Sherman won’t have to worry about Big Brother watching them remotely. This week, the Sherman City Council decided not to move forward with an idea to install red light cameras.
Several DFW cities have had success with ticketing speeders and red light runners using the cameras. They take a photo of the violator, which is then used to get their license plate. A ticket is mailed out, and the money from the fines goes back to the city's budget.
The council put off the idea, due to legal concerns.
