8-17-04 - A standoff in Marietta that began with a man running down the road firing a high-powered rifle ended peacefully Tuesday night.

Love County Deputies and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to a rural area east of Marietta, along Bois D’Arc Road. Authorities say William Watson, 18, got into an argument with a neighbor during the afternoon. At some point, Watson left the residence shouting that someone was going to kill him. While running, Watson fired the rifle and ran into the woods.

A manhunt ensued, but with a half hour, Watson’s father convinced him to surrender. The teenager faces a charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.
