8-20-04 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Health advocates in Oklahoma City are studying ways to boost breast cancer prevention and treatment efforts. Oklahoma First Lady Kim Henry told more than 100 people in Oklahoma City Thursday that breast cancer is a major health concern in the state.
The group was gathered at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Henry says more than 3,000 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year in Oklahoma, and more than 540 women will die of the disease.
Henry says it is important to remind women of the importance of self-exams and routine mammograms.
Health advocates say Oklahoma ranks in the bottom tier of states for mammogram screening.
