Ardmore Marine Killed In Iraq

8-22-04- An Ardmore family is grieving Sunday after news their son was killed in Iraq Saturday. Carol Caldwell says her son, Marine Private Nachez Washalanta, II, was killed when a roadside bomb exploded near his convoy outside Mosul, Iraq.

Private Washalanta was on his second tour of duty in Iraq and had been on his current tour since February of this year. He was scheduled to return home next month. The 21 year old joined the Marines in April 2002 and is a graduate of Silo High School.

His family says a memorial service will be held in Ardmore and they want the Marine to be buried in the Gene Autry Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are pending.
