Arson Feared in Church Fire

Video will be available shortly.

8-22-04- Arson might be the cause of a church fire in Bonham, Texas. Sunday, investigators combed through the charred First Pentecostal Church in Bonham after fire ripped through the sanctuary late Saturday night.

Firefighters responded to the call around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. They arrived to find the sanctuary completely destroyed.

Word of the fire spread quickly through town and MinisterTroy Miles says the congregation is devastated. The church has been part of the community for five decades and was preparing a 50th anniversary celebration for this coming October.

Investigators found that a back door was left open and some things inside the church were missing.

Sunday, worship services were held at the park across from the church, until a permanent place to worship can be found.
