8-23-04 - An elderly Whitesboro woman lost all of her possessions in a house fire over the weekend. Odell Renfroe, 83, and one of her daughters had lived at 807 North Avenue for 19 years. But around 8:30 on Saturday morning, Renfroe smelled smoke. She escaped the home before it was engulfed in flames, but was only able to take her purse with her.

It took firefighters four hours to put out the fire. They say an electrical short is to blame.

A local church has found a temporary place for Renfroe to live, but she’s still trying to figure out how to replace her possessions. If you can help, a fund has been set up at the Security Bank in Whitesboro. You can reach them at 903-564-3535.
