Homes Demolished, Rebuilt in Ardmore

Video will be available shortly.

8-24-04 - A city-run program in Ardmore is tearing down homes, but rebuilding them at no cost to the owners. This week, they chose five more homes for the program, aimed at cleaning up old neighborhoods without running off residents.

The demolition and rebuild are paid by a federal grant through the city. They recently finished five homes they began working on in February, and have added five more to their list.

Homeowners say the program is fantastic, and allows them to have a home they never could have afforded on their own. But not everyone can qualify for the program.
The person must own the property and meet a certain income level. And the house must be beyond repair. Once the home is rebuilt, the owner has to live in it for at least five years.
