8-26-04 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma's gun laws will change on November 1st. That's when a new law takes effect that says employers can't stop workers with gun permits from keeping a gun in their cars at work.

The law is designed to protect the rights of gun owners. The law states that employers can't create policies or rules to ban permitted guns in locked cars, unless the employee is a convicted felon.

Some workers at schools or federal buildings still won't be allowed to have guns in their vehicles. Gun experts say no previous workplace shootings have ever been carried out by someone with a concealed carry permit.

There are about 42,000 Oklahomans with concealed carry permits.
