Cleaning up Dirty Dumpsites

Video will be available shortly.

8-26-04 - Illegal dumpsites in Grayson County are a growing problem, but the Sherman police department could soon help defray the workload of dealing with the problem.

Currently, the trash dumps generate 70 to 100 complaint calls per month, that fall on one Grayson County employee to enforce. But Thursday, 10 Sherman police officers were trained in how to spot and handle dumps, as well as violators they catch inside city limits.

Grayson County Environmental Officer Jim White welcomes the help. He covers more than 940 square miles alone. He says today’s training will end up saving taxpayer dollars.
