Police to enforce fireworks laws this holiday weekend

SHERMAN, TX - As the Fourth of July approaches, local first responders want to remind the public about certain laws regarding fireworks.

It is against the law to possess or sale fireworks in either Sherman or Denison. If you're caught, police say you could receive a fine of more than $100. Lieutenant Bob Fair with the Sherman Police Department says they are taking offenses very seriously.

"Possession of fireworks inside the city limits of Sherman or within 5,000 feet of the city limits of Sherman is a violation of city ordinance. You'll be issued a citation. The set fine for the citation is $137," Lt. Fair says.

You can always leave the fireworks up to professionals this weekend. There are plenty of fireworks displays across the area. For a complete list check the link below.
