Mother Charged for Dumping Baby

Video will be available shortly.

9-02-04 – A Durant woman now faces charges for putting her baby in a dumpster at an apartment complex back in May. Ashley Williams is charged with the misdemeanor crime of unlawfully disposing of a deceased child. The Bryan County District Attorney says the Medical Examiner was unable to determine how the baby died.

The 25 year old mother claims the child was stillborn and says she did not know what to do. A man searching for cans found the child wrapped in a towel on May 10th.

The misdemeanor charge carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
