9-2-04 - Pre-kindergarten classes are so popular across Texoma that some schools have waiting lists as big as the classes themselves.

That’s the case in Sherman, where the government-funded program has so many students that they have a waiting list of 60 students.

Pre-K programs have grown in popularity and number over the past few years. Supporters say it is a valuable program that prepares children academically and socially for school.

Sherman ISD added its 8th class in the district this year - a bilingual classroom at Washington elementary.

Durant and Ardmore Pre-K classes are at capacity as well as. In Denison, there are three openings.
