RAVIA, OK - The state fire marshal says the fire that destroyed the First Baptist Church in Ravia early Friday morning was intentionally set.

Rescue crews from Ravia and Tishomingo responded to the fire at 2 a.m. The church was fully engulfed and Mannsville, Mill Creek and Milburn were called in to assist. Jonhston County EMS also responded to the scene. No one was injured in the fire. Pastor Roger Hartwell can't comprehend why someone set fire to his church.

"It's very surprising. I can't understand why they would burn the church," Hartwell says.

A church van was discovered about one mile away from the scene. Authorities say the van appeared to abandoned. The Johnston County Sheriff's Office tells us that they have had reports of other cars vandalized in the area last night and are investigating if the incidents are related.
