Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
9-06-04 – An Ardmore man is dead after drowning in Lake Murray Sunday evening. The Carter County Dive Team found the body of 37 year old John B. Carrol at around 11:00pm. Authorities say Carrol swam out to a fishing buoy about 175 feet from the shore at 6:50pm. He never made it back.
The dive team recovered the victim in six feet of water, two miles south of Martin’s Landing.
