9-9-04 - A vandalism spree at a Carter County cemetery had led to criticism of the district attorney.

DA Mitch Sperry is holding a public meeting next Monday to answer questions as to why he’s only charging one of the suspects in the case with a misdemeanor.

Brian Gonzales, 20, was arrested and accused of damaging 82 headstones at Healdton's cemetery. Police say he admitted to it and incriminated five juvenile suspects.

Sperry has come under fire for his decision, which centers on reports of a lack of evidence in the case.

The Monday meeting will begin at 7pm at the Healdton High School auditorium.
