ADA, OK -- Excitement filled the air Thursday at the D & W Quick Stop in Ada, after the Oklahoma Lottery Commission announced that the $2 million winning powerball ticket was sold from the store.

Manager, Tom Scroggins, says employees and customers are excited to find out who the winner is.

"It's kind of a big deal here. The phone's been ringing off the wall after it's kind of getting around town that it was sold here, and I'm anxious to see who bought the ticket," said Scroggins. "I'm sure we know them."

Scroggins says the majority of the store's customers are local residents. Darian Doss, was shocked that the winning ticket came from the store...and she hopes the winner puts the money to good use.

"I hope they do well with the money and I do hope it is someone from around here, and I'm proud for them," Doss said.

Vicki Wren says this winning ticket gives other Ada residents hope that they can hit the jackpot too.

"It's great. It's actually not the first time that someone's won big here, so it just let's people know that they have just as much chance as anyone else at winning the big money," Wren said.

Scroggins says he hopes more powerball winners come from Oklahoma.

"You're always seeing other states winning everything, and you know that's one of the biggest complaints I've heard from people that buy the tickets here is that 'Why can't Oklahoma ever win a big prize' maybe this is the start of something big," Scroggins said.

The Lottery Commission says the winner has 180 days to claim their prize. A spokesperson told News12 that 29 percent of the winnings will be withheld for taxes, which means the winner can expect to collect over $1.4 million.
