Ada man pleads no contest in fatal drug overdose

ADA, OK - The Ada pharmacy tech charged in a fatal drug overdose over a year ago will spend the next eight years in prison.

20-year-old Zebakiah Nemecek pleaded no contest this morning to second degree murder and larceny of a controlled dangerous substance in the murder of 20-year-old Kase Harris who died in December of 2011 of a drug overdose.

Nemecek, who worked as a pharmacy tech at the Ada Walmart, illegally sold Harris a bottle of hydrocodine cough syrup and bottles of the prescription pain killers Lortab and Xanax.

He was initially charged with first degree murder.

Nemecek is expected to begin his sentence on Feb. 4 at 8:30 a.m.
