Ada students back in school - police reminds drivers to be cautious in school zones

ADA, OK -- School is officially back in session for Ada students, which means drivers need to be more alert when on the road.

Officer Kylor Pool with the Ada Police Department say it's important to be aware when drivers are going through a school speed zone.

He says if a person is caught speeding in a school zone, the amount of a traffic citation can double.

Pool says drivers can also be cited for failing to stop when school buses are loading and unloading.

"Driving around the buses while they're unloading can also get your license suspended, so they definitely need to stop and wait for the buses to load and unload the children before they drive around them," said Pool.

Pool says more officers will be present in school zones now that school has started.
