ARDMORE, OK -- The Carter County fair kicks off this evening.

Opening ceremonies for the 72nd annual free fair begin tonight at 6:30 at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore.
Manager Tina Owens says events include a terrapin derby, frog jumping, and best dressed pet.
There will also be a petting zoo, arts and crafts exhibits, food and rides in the Midway and a petting zoo.
Owens says the fair is all about family-friendly entertainment and they're expecting a great turnout.
" That's the best--when you see the families competing together, you know they're going to come back out together to view everything, you know, they're going to be routing each other on and that's one of the best parts," said Owens.
Owens says county commissioners will also be providing free watermelon at the opening ceremonies tonight.
