ARDMORE, OK - This evening Ardmore City Commissioners approved two new school resource officers.

The officers were approved in a five to zero vote.

Officer Ruben Garcia will work at Ardmore Middle school and Officer John Randolph will serve at Ardmore High school.

Mayor Sheryl Ellis explained why she voted yes.

"It allows our police officers to go into the schools, to build relationships with the students, build relationships with school officials, and build relationships with the families," said Mayor Ellis.

The two new school resource officers will replace Officer Barry Antwine who was reassigned in August after officials learned he admitted to inappropriately touching an underage girl when he was in high school back in 1996.
