ARDMORE, OK -- Just days after the city of Ardmore announced police chief Keith Mann's voluntary resignation, city officials make an announcement about the deputy chief.
He'll return to the ranks as a captain.
The decision about Hamblin comes after the city of Ardmore announced police chief Keith Mann's resignation Tuesday.
City manager J.D. Spohn said Hamblin held the position of captain before becoming deputy chief last year.
Hamblin was put on administrative leave on June 18th for what the city calls, "an ongoing administrative review of various operational aspects of the Ardmore Police Department."
No other details about that review have been made public. Spohn said this is a personnel matter.
He said that Capt. Kevin Norris was appointed as interim chief last week, and will continue to serve in that position for the time being. And the deputy chief spot is now open.
"Any decision relating to the deputy chief's position will be made by the new incoming chief," Spohn said.
Hamblin is scheduled to return to active duty Monday.
