ARDMORE, OK -- An Ardmore man is in the Carter County jail after police say he attempted to set his mother's home on fire over the holiday weekend.

37-year-old Jason Humphrey was arrested for arson in the first degree on Thanksgiving.

Police say Humphrey got into a fight with his brother who was home for the weekend and when his brother left the residence on the 600 block of Frensley southwest, Humphrey allegedly set a couch on fire in the home where he reportedly lives with his mother.

Law enforcement says they were able to extinguish the fire quickly upon arrival and there was only minor damage.
