ARDMORE, OK - One of Ardmore's finest was honored at the City Commissioners meeting Tuesday night.

Mayor Sheryl Ellis presented a certificate of appreciation to Captain Kevin Norris for the time he served as interim chief at the police department.

Norris took on the job when former chief Keith Mann and former deputy chief Eric Hamblin were placed on administrative leave in June 2013, and then went back to being a captain when Ken Grace became chief in January.

Norris explained what he learned from the experience.

"If you take everybody into consideration on how things should be done and how it's going to affect everybody then I think it runs smoother," Norris said.

Norris has served in the department for 16 years.
