Ardmore police warn public not to leave running vehicles unattended

ARDMORE, OK -- During this cold weather, police are warning you while it's tempting to warm up your car before getting inside don't leave it running unattended.

Ardmore police say a man started his car Thursday morning then went back inside his residence on the 1500 block of 3rd street north east. When he walked back outside shortly after his vehicle was gone and has yet to be found.

Captain Kevin Norris" reminds people to be safe, rather than sorry.

Norris said, "You know even if you watch the vehicle from inside, it doesn't take but a second for somebody to run up to the car, jump in the vehicle and take off and by the time you get outside the vehicle is already driving down the road"

Norris says they don't have a suspect yet from this morning's vehicle theft.
