Ardmore soup kitchen serves up Christmas dinner

ARDMORE, OK -- Those in need of a warm Christmas dinner had a seat available at the Soup Kitchen in Ardmore today.

Volunteers from Mercy Hospital in Ardmore donated, cooked and served dinner to those who decided to stop by both Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The feast included turkey, ham and all the usual trimmings. The volunteers say serving Christmas dinner to families in need is just one way of giving back to the community and following the Mercy Memorial Hospital's mission of healing with Jesus Christ.

"The turn out seems really well, and like I said just look at the crowd is enjoying themselves, eating, theres a lot of food, people have given us a lot of things, its just great to see the community give back like that," Precious Jones, with Mercy Memorial, said.

That a great story...much better than the commericalized toy drive...there are a lot of homeless people in Ardmore....if the energy was used to help those in need with the "necesseties" such as shelter food, medical and asssistance with job training and might no be so many homeless standing on the corners asking for help! In this small town.......hum.....
