Armed robberies in Hugo and Paris may be linked

KXII -- Two convenience stores, one in Hugo and the other in Paris, were robbed at gunpoint last night and authorities believe one man may have committed both crimes.

The first incident occurred just before midnight at the Gassy Minnow off Highway 70 East in Hugo.

"Upon entering the convenience store the subject produced a shotgun, forced the clerk to give approximately $250 in cash," said Hugo Police Sgt. Investigator Billy Jenkins.

Police say the robber is described as a light skinned black man, between 5 foot 9 and 6 feet and about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing jeans and a hoodie.

An hour and half later, a man with the same description entered the Food Fast convenient store in the 2600 block of Lamar Avenue in Paris.

"A light skinned black male had entered the store and brandished a shotgun and demanded the money from the cash drawer," said Paris Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett.

Hugo Investigators are currently working with Paris Detectives to determine if these two cases are linked.

"We're trying to compare video to see if the description of the subject matches the description of the subject we have," said Jenkins.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on either of these cases to contact your local law enforcement.
