Atoka man charged with murder of Alan Oliver

Mitchell Craver was arraigned today via video conference on first degree murder charges in the death of Alan Oliver.

Prosecutors say the 31-year-old Atoka resident stabbed Oliver to death in the chest and neck.

Craver then dragged his body into Oliver's van and drove it behind the Atoka High School football field, according to an affidavit.

The Affidavit states Craver killed Oliver during a fight between the two men on Aug. 24.

Police Chief Gene Dodson said they are still waiting to receive manner and cause of death from the state medical examiner.

He says figuring out the cause is more difficult because of how badly the body was burned.

Craver and Oliver are former coworkers, according to Dodson.

Dodson said police have put together a strong case, in addition to obtaining a confession.

Craver is being held on a $1 million bond. He was arrested last Monday on drug chargers, and was in police custody when he was named a suspect.
