STRINGTOWN, OK -- An Atoka man died after an accident in Stringtown Sunday afternoon.
It happened at the intersection of Highway 69 and State Highway 43.
Police say 40-year-old Charles Ingram was turning onto Highway 69 when he pulled out in front of a semi truck. Officers say the semi slammed into Ingram's driver side.
Ingram was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
Police say unfortunately, fatal accidents are too common on the stretch of highway.
"It does happen very often. And the blind spots and the spots it's hard to see makes it difficult when you're pulling out from those intersections," officer Chad Wilkerson said. "In fact, the percentage that the Stringtown Police Department works does result in fatality accidents."
Police also urge drivers to pay attention to the speed limit, and signs posted through Stringtown.
