POTTSBORO, TX -- Over the weekend tragedy struck the local fishing community when a young Pottsboro man was found dead in Lake Ray Roberts. Now fellow outdoors men are coming together to help his family.
The family of 29-year-old Gabe Carter tells us a benefit and memorial fishing tournament has been scheduled next month, Saturday, October 19, at Lake Ray Roberts. That's where Carter was competing in a bass fishing tournament when he went overboard Saturday. His body was recovered the next day. It's unknown at this point how Carter ended up in the water.
Carter leaves behind a wife and ten-month-old son.
A memorial fund for Gabe's son has been set up at American Bank of Texas: https://www.abtexas.com/
