Blake Shelton performs to sold out crowd in Tishomingo

TISHOMINGO, OK - At 7 p.m. sharp the doors to the Fletcher's Auditorium opened on Thursday evening.

This was the country music star's second time to perform at Murray State College.

Proceeds from Shelton's show benefit the Tishomingo, Ravia, and Milburn fire departments.

MSC President Joy McDaniel says tonight's benefit concert was Shelton's idea. McDaniel said, "Of course we were thrilled and said, 'When?'"

The concert sold out 45 minutes after the announcement.

Shelton and his wife, Miranda Lambert, have a home in Tishomingo.

MSC has started a social media campaign to thank the star for playing a charity show in his home town.

According the the President McDaniel, "They are wonderful examples of people that want to give back to the community and I don't know that there is any other place in the world that has country music superstars that are doing this kind of thing."
