FANNIN COUNTY, TX -- Residents in Bonham and Dodd City had no real reason to be concerned when alarms for the Emergency Alert System sounded Tuesday night.
According to residents the alarm sounded at 10:45 p.m.
Bonham Police Department Captain Timothy LaVergne said it was not a malfunction, but the alarm was accidentally set off by a dispatcher.
Captain Lavergne says a dispatcher inadvertently set off both the siren and the EAS alarm.
The department is now taking steps to try to relocate the EAS button.
