BONHAM, TEXAS -- Monday night the Bonham ISD board of trustees voted unanimously to approve a new, stricter drug testing policy.

Superintendent Dr. Marvin Beaty says the board approved the new policy 7 to 0.

The new policy is stricter for students who want to participate in extracurricular activities.

Right now they test students for marijuana and other narcotics, but they want to also test for substances, including alcohol, steroids and bath salts

They say they'll test all students once, then give random drug tests.
