Bonham daycare shuts down after child abuse allegations

BONHAM, TX-An employee of a childcare business in Bonham is now under investigation after some serious allegations that a child was mistreated.

Bonham Police tell us that the business being investigated is Angelsafe Childcare. Police Chief Mike Bankston said the investigation into the daycare began last week after claims that a 4-year-old child had been sexually abused by an employee. Bankston said the business operates out of a home at 622 West 7th Street in bonham.

According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services website, that address is a "listed family home" childcare operated by Tarran Duncan. The site states that a "listed family home" is not licensed or registered by the D.F.P.S. We knocked on the door. but no one answered. We called the number listed for Duncan, at that address, and also received no answer. We spoke with a neighbor who lives next door. She didn't want to speak on camera, but said the daycare has been around for years and she hasn't heard of any problems.

Parents in the area said an investigation like this stirs fear in any parent who trusts a childcare provider to watch their children.

"It's very sad, very sickening. I don't know why anybody would do that," said a parent, Casey Long.

No arrests have been made and Bankston said the investigation is ongoing.

We will continue to follow this story.
