CAC hosts Hope Floats Balloon Release in Paris

PARIS, TX-- The Children's Advocacy Center and community members came out Friday morning to participate in the Hope Floats Balloon Release.

The event recognizes April as child abuse awareness and prevention month.

The 175 balloons released symbolized all the children served by the center in 2013. Each balloon represented children who were sexually and physically abused, those who were neglected or at risk for abuse, and children who were endangered by drugs.

"We're here for children and for child abuse victims," said CAC Executive Director Rebecca Peevy. "While we can't have them come back and let a balloon go, we can at least have a first grade class. Their excitement and their energy really livens up the whole event."

First graders from North Lamar ISD assisted in the balloon release.

This is the second year in a row the children's center has hosted this event.
