Cancer fighter receives comforting gift

PARIS, TX -- Last week a 22-year old Paris man went through his second surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.

To aid in his recovery Paris Live Open Mic teamed up with Rent-A-Center, formally Colortyme, and donated a comforting gift.

"We need to stick together as a community and we are locally owned and want to help out the community," said Rent-A-Center Accounts Manager Wayne Taylor.

"If we can do something to just put a smile on somebody's face, it's better than any present you could ever ask for," said Paris Live Open Mic's "Super" Dave Milsap.

Wednesday morning, Chris Allred, who has been battling testicular cancer, received a brand new recliner to make his recovery a little more comfortable. Chris' mom, Sara Allred, has been reaching out online for anyone to help get her son a chair.

"I was hoping to get anything, I mean I didn't care," said Sara. "This is just beautiful, brand new, I didn't imagine that we would get one like this."

"It feels awesome," said Chris. "I didn't even expect I would be getting a recliner, let alone an awesome looking new one. It's very comfortable too."
