LAMAR COUNTY, TX-- A woman was able to escape from her car, uninjured, after it caught fire Monday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m. Powderly and Chicota Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a car on fire on Highway 271 just north of Powderly.
The woman told fire officials she smelled smoke as she was driving, pulled over and saw flames coming from her trunk.
Fire officials say when they arrived the car was fully engulfed in flames, leaving crews on scene for about an hour.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
