CARTER CO, OK - Land lines are going out of style at least when it comes to calling 911.

At the Carter County 911 meeting the committee found that the percentage of calls from cell phones is rising.

The committee says the majority of calls used to come from land lines but in the last year the number of cell phone calls has risen to more than 80 percent.

The committee also discussed low cell phone reception in areas of the county without any towers during the meeting.

The 911 coordinator says they spent time on how to fix those problems.

According to 911 Coordinator Shelly Stahlbusch, "We're discussing as most 911 agencies are nationwide, the shift of funding as well and how we're going to address those issues."

Carter County 911 has had about 2,400 calls a month for the past three months.
