Carter Co. residents asked to pass $10M UCSO bond

ARDMORE, OK - Carter County residents are being asked to approve an initiative that community leaders said will greatly improve the quality of life for its citizens.

The proposal is for a University Health Science Facility and a Health and Fitness Center at the University Center of Southern Oklahoma.

The cost for Carter County residents would be $10 million over a ten year period.

Several local foundations announced Monday they'll donate the remaining $12 million needed to complete the project.

Leaders said the new facilities would help students learn, create jobs and improve health.

"Ardmore will move forward," Ardmore Mayor Bob Geurin said. "People need to step up, and they have stepped up for many years. We are a 'can do' community and we'll move this town forward."

The proposal will be on the Nov. 6 ballot.
