PARIS, Texas - Last night the city council nominated Campbell Soup as an Enterprise Zone Project.

In the last year Campbell Soup has added two new product lines to the Paris plant creating 130 new jobs and $70 million worth of investments.

Campbell Soup received a local incentive of a seven year tax abatement in March, the Enterprise Zone Program is a state incentive that promotes job growth. Companies selected for the program receive a rebate of state sales tax on investment projects.

"This doesn't cost the city anything and it can be a real big payoff back for the company." said PEDC Executive Director Steve Gilbert. "The city nominates them and helps them get the benefits that they may get from the state."

Kimberly Clark, Paris Regional Medical Center and J. Skinner Baking company have all been nominated in the past with Kimberly Clark being the only one accepted.

Campbell Soup will now have until September 3rd to submit their nomination to the governor for consideration.
