GRAYSON CO., TX -- A Grayson County road is getting some repairs thanks to a pipeline company installing a natural gas line for the new Panda Power Plant in Sherman.
Gulf Crossing Pipeline is installing the line along FM-1417.
The pipe will help supply five cities in North Texas with natural gas.
To build the pipe construction crews will have to move heavy equipment on Elk Road, which currently cannot support the weight of their materials.
Tuesday morning commissioners accepted a $12,000 check from Gulf Crossing and will use those funds to reinforce the road for the company's use.
According to Grayson County Commissioner for Precinct 1, Jeff Whitmire, "They need it done, so any time someone needs exceptional work done, they generally pay us to repair the road, and we'll do that."
Whitmire says this works well for the county because Gulf Crossing is footing the bill to get a county road in better condition.
