ARDMORE, OK--A new Ardmore park is just a few months away from completion.

Parks and recreation director Kevin Boatright said they have broken ground on the new Southwest Park in Ardmore.

He said this week they are working on building, a parking lot, and a fence. They are also looking at proposals to buy playground equipment and a pavilion.

Organizers said it was a community effort that made the dream a park in that area a reality. The park's pavilion and playground is expected to be finished by October.

Washington: why does it matter if I live in NE or NW and want to go use the new park? What am I confined to the parks on "my" side of town?
If you are someone who actually goes to the parks then go enjoy them and quit worrying about who is not from that side of town! Think about how that comment really makes you sound!

Ardmore is divided east and west by Mt. Washington, north and south by Main St. The west side has Walker Park, Broadlawn, the park on Choctaw and Locast NW (To the south of Veterans Blvd across the street from the high school), Regional Park, and Sunset. The east side has Whittington, Paisley (just west of Gloria Ainsworth Day Care), hope this helps.

Walker park is a park on the Northwest side of town corner of B St NW and 10 NW go check it out. Sunset is also on southwest side north of walker stadium. Broadlawn is between MT Washington and Harris which is Northwest side of town. The east side has three Parks as well not including cardinal park.

This is great! I hope all of the citizens from the neglected east side of the tracks will drive over there to use the new facilities. Thanks Ardmore!!!

The East side has four parks. West side has none. About time they got one. Git a grip Washington. Wake up and face facts.

That's not exactly true either. The only park in the SW is Central Park, but there are other parks on the west side of town (Regional Park, Broadlawn, Walker, Sunset)

Walker is owned by the Historical Society and is not a Park. Never heard of Sunset. Broadlawn is on the east side of town. Regional Park serves the entire region. There's not a house near it.
